"Health
for all now!"
The People's Health Movement (PHM) is a worldwide coalition of people's organisations, civil society organisations, NGOs, social activists, health professionals, academics and researchers that endorse the People's Charter for Health. The PHM is strongly focused on the interests of the poor and the marginalised and their struggle for health. The People's Charter for Health summarises the PHM's basic ethos about the struggle to achieve "health for all" as envisioned by the Declaration at Alma Ata. PHM aims to re-establish equity as the key priority in health policy and to refocus health towards comprehensive primary health care as envisaged at Alma Ata.
PHM Aotearoa New Zealand is under construction, like this website. However, activists have had early meetings about how PHM might advocate for "health for all" here and how it might contribute to global action. PHM hopes to link with existing groups and individuals who are striving to reduce health inequalities and increase community participation in decison-making which affects people's health in Aotearoa New Zealand.
